Located within Chicago’s landmark IBM Building, this workplace renovation reimagines two office floors as an open, collaborative environment that encourages connection while supporting focused work. The project balances transparency, flexibility and comfort, creating a workplace that feels both highly functional and distinctly human.

As Design Lead, Jorge de Ovando directed the project from concept development through design coordination, working closely with consultants, engineers and the client team to transform the workplace into a cohesive architectural experience. The project became an opportunity to explore how thoughtful design decisions can improve both the spatial quality and the daily experience of work.

More than a workplace, the project reflects a broader shift in how professional environments are conceived. Natural light, open circulation, shared spaces and carefully detailed interiors support a culture of collaboration while reinforcing the identity of the organization. The experience continues to influence JDO Studio’s approach to workplace design today.
